Great Destinations – Trees and Greens - Chiang Mai

If you like the idea of waking up to a view of mist covered mountains, sparkling rivers and whispering forest, head for the cooler climes of northern Thailand where the provinces of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provide the perfect place to de-stress.

Among the rice fields and mountains you’ll find charming rustic resorts nestled in the hillside overlooking immense valleys and secluded luxury retreats finished in teak and silk. Nestled in the green Mae Rim Valley, almost in a world of its own, the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai (formerly the Regent) literally feeds the senses. Clusters of Lanna-style pavilions pay tribute to Chiang Mai’s artistic and cultural heritage. Four Seasons offers a range of eclectic Spa treatments reflecting many Asian influences – two thousand year old Ayurvedic treatments, Aroma Stone Therapy (which placed on key energy points harnesses the healing power of warm volcanic stone to release muscular tension and balance the spirit.) Four Seasons also recognises men’s needs with packages like The Gentlemen's Getaway which combines a rice and spice skin scrub, an aromatic massage and a Lanna herbal facial. Four Seasons provides the perfect place to nourish the body and the mind.

Further north in Chiang Rai, the Phu Chaisai Resort and Spa (literally "mountain with a clear heart") offers a great natural getaway. Relax and revitalise with a "soften skin salt glow", "bamboo body polish" and a "skin fitness facial for men"  Unusual bamboo décor gives a charming rustic feel with other activities like golf, trekking, pony trekking and adventure tours beckoning when the energy returns.
