Koh Samui's busiest and biggest town offers more accommodation options than elsewhere on the island. Chaweng is also nightlife central with bars and restaurants catering to every taste. From beachside institutions to sophisticated cocktail bars, Chaweng's nightlife is streets ahead of anywhere else on Samui in terms of choice.
Situated on the more developed east coast of the island, Chaweng Noi Beach consumes nearly 7 Km of powdery white sand, fringed by azure shores and lush tropical plantation. The rich bio-marine life of the ocean and the vibrant, cost effective atmosphere, make this beach a favorite with divers, backpackers and families.
Samui's Second largest resort area after Chaweng. It is quieter and less bustling than its big sister, but still with plenty of accommodation, dining and shopping options to be found, and some great spas and tourist sites to explore. In terms of popularity, the tourist facilities and the quality of the beach itself, Lamai comes a close second to Chaweng, but with a less frenetic ambience.
Close to Samui's famous Big Buddha landmark lies Bophut Beach. Two kilometers of white sandy shoreline fringed by leaning coconut palms - an ideal place to chill out. Bophut includes the charming Fisherman's Village lined with old wooden houses, small trendy shops and relaxed restaurants.
Samui’s last backpacker enclave, Maenam Beach offers affordable accommodation dotted along the beach with excellent views of Ko Phan Ngan in the distance. It’s one of the island’s pretty and most serene beaches, with a quaint village to explore.
Easily the most remote spot on the island, Taling Ngam's appeal mainly lies with those who want to get away from it all in style, i.e. by staying at Baan Taling Ngam Resort & Spa, one of Samui's foremost luxury hotels.
Much more upmarket that its neighbour Big Buddha, Choeng Mon is made up of a series of bays on the north-western tip of the island, which are dominated by a handful of three to five star resorts.
Hua Thanon And Bang Kao are amongst the least developed parts of Samui with only a few resorts spread at leisurely intervals along the two beaches on the island's south west tip. So if you want total peace and quiet...this is it
