About Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta island is a favourite spot for those who seek peace and solitude, and is the home of the District and National Park offices. Mountainous and rugged in some spots, especially near the southern tip; with a combination of gravelly and fine white sandy beaches, the island is also home to a clan of Chao Ley, or Sea Gypsies who preserve many of their ancient customs and ceremonies.
Krabi Krabi province has some of Thailand's most breathtaking scenery, with stunning beaches, limestone cliffs and colourful coral reefs. Ao Nang with a good choice of restaurants and hotels is Krabi's most popular beach. Ao Nang also provides a embarkation point for beautiful Railey Beach - accessible only by boat. Many of the more upscale hotels are located on developing Klong Muang and nearby Tubkaak - a very quiet beach area - providing a perfect holiday retreat.
Ko Lanta and the Phi Phi Islands are part of Krabi province and both lie within a designated marine national park.
