PHUKET TOWN
Phuket Town, the provincial centre of Phuket, is
home to all legal and government offices including Immigration and
the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) which is found near the
clock tower at the intersection of Monsirit, Tilok Uthit, Phuket
Rds.
The main bus terminal (for off-island destinations)
is off Phang-nga Rd and the local bus center is found in the central
market area near the intersection of Ranong and Rasada Rds. Rang
Hill offers a great view of Phuket and the bay.
The Marine Biological Research Centre and Aquarium
are near the Port of Phuket and the pier for the ferries is on the
north end of Phuket Bay. Phuket Boat Lagoon lies about 20km north
of Phuket Town at Ao Sapam.
Phuket International Hospital is north of the intersection
of highways 4020 and 402 (near Lotus shopping centre) and Bangkok
Phuket Hospital and Clinic are located north off Yaowarat Rd. and
all other types of medical needs can be met in Phuket Town.
Both international schools are to the north end
of Phuket Town as well as the local university. There is a wide
range of restaurants, accommodations and shopping available here.
