Dining in Phi Phi
You won't want for dining out opportunities in Phi Phi Don. You will find very reasonably priced Thai food in the alleys linking the two bays and good seafood in the restaurants lining Long Beach on the southern side of Ton Sai Bay.
In the centre of the isthmus there are many choices ranging from sandwich bars to pub grub to steaks as well as budget Thai food. A good, reliable option is Mama's Restaurant near the pier and of course you can always try one of the many hotel eateries (Zeavola's restaurant comes recommended). Nearby Mama's, Le Grand Bleu offers good gourmet fare while Hippie's BBQ restaurant is a large, beachside affair.
What to Eat
Phi Phi Island may well be the banana pancake capital of the universe, a snack that is available on virtually every street corner. Apart from that there's a good range of cuisine available on the island.
If you are a fresh seafood fan then you'll be in seventh heaven. Snacks are freely available pretty much within arms' reach all over the island and for the more serious business of getting down to a meal the Ton Sai Bay side has the best seafood and gourmet choices while pub grub can be found in the many bars of the centre of the island. Where to Eat
In spite of the sometimes budget-backpacker feel to the place there are a few outstanding restaurants on the island. Probably the best-know of these is Le Grand Bleu near the Ton Sai Pier. Nearby MacPluto Burger is the place to score a burger and the best place for fresh seafood is at the restaurants lining the beach at the southern side of the bay (Long Beach).
Bordering the market you will find many Thai budget food stalls. The menus are not always in English but where there's a will there's a way. On the opposite side of the isthmus Ciao Bella offers good Italian fare. (Read more...)
