About Bang Saen
Situated around 20 kilometers out of Pattaya, Bangsean is virtually unknown to the streams of tourists that frequent the downtown area. A popular haunt of Bangkok dwellers, there is a bigger ratio of locals to foreigners, which for many is the big draw. Expect fewer bars, shops and general entertainment venues in Bangsean; the antithesis to Walking Street is Pattaya's softer side. Just 13 kilometers from the city of Chonburi, this became a resort destination in the 1940s when Thai Prime Minister General P. Pibunsongkram initiated a project for tourism here. Offering travellers a welcome respite from the chaos of The Beach Road, heading down to this sub district of Pattaya will lead you to one of the kingdom's most well-maintained beachfronts. The beach has a few vendors selling papaya salad (som tam) and iced drinks, while revellers playing in the sea make for some pleasant seaside entertainment. Shade can be found under the soaring palm trees that line the beach. About four kilometres north of Bang Saen is Khao Sam Muk or Sam Muk Hill that is famous for its revered religious shrine and excellent seafood. The drive takes you along a scenic hillside road to the hilltop to pay respect at the shrine overlooking the sea. The clifftop has become a tourist spot due to its amazing panoramic view and spectacular sunsets; wild monkeys can also be seen around the area.

Chonburi
Chonburi is located at the Bay of Bangkok, the northern end of the Gulf of Thailand. A mountain range stretches from the north-west to the south-east of the province, while the fertile plains of the north were long used for farming. In Laem Chabang in the south of the province is one of the few deep-water harbours of Thailand.
