A travellers destination, off the tourist trail, Lanta island offers spectacular beaches and little coves surrounded by rugged mountains.

It's location, between Krabi province and Phuket island, means it's not as accessible as some of the more well-known islands. It's part of the attraction. The journey means going via Phi Phi island and really seeing the best of the marine national park on the way. When you arrive there's no crowds, no hustle and bustle - just peace and quiet.

Lanta is also home to a community of ethnic sea gypsies who still live in the old ways and follow traditional customs. Accommodation is limited so we've chosen a selection of the most comfortable hotels on the island.
