Krabi
Krabi Province has long been a favourite destination for discerning travellers wishing to get away from the crowds. In fact, Krabi has everything that other destinations trumpet, albeit delivered in a more discreet manner. Krabi's coasts have a double whammy in that they are lined with impressive limestone outcrops ideal for rock climbing and the sea is a translucent green, unique to this area.
While Ao Nang is party central and home to many hotels and a vibrant nightlife scene, Krabi Town retains its provincial feel and is frequented more by backpackers wishing to use the many guesthouses as base camp.

Tours in Krabi
With such a plethora of things to see in this lovely part of the world making your mind up as to which tour to take is probably the hardest part of the process.
Island hopping is definitely a good idea and you can even charter a local longtail boat for this while if you seek something more organised go for a speedboat tour that comes complete with lunch and soft drinks. Elephant trekking is a big favourite while bicycle tours are growing in popularity. There are several rock climbing companies based in Ao Nang and Railay so take your pick and have a great time. Krabi Beaches
Many deserted and magnificent beaches line Krabi's coastline as well as well-frequented spots such as Ao Nang and Railay. To the north of Ao Nang lie Klong Muang and Tubkaak beaches which play host to five-star hotels and little else.
The Hat Noppharat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park incorporates many of the mainland beaches and over 80 smaller islands including the stunning and popular Phi Phi islands. What to See in Krabi
Krabi's striking limestone cliffs, actually part of the world's biggest coral reef, set the tone for the rest of the province's magnificent sights. Krabi has some of the most striking countryside in Southeast Asia and it is a good idea to rent a car to take in the sights such as the many verdant and startling outcrops surrounded by lush greenery and the translucent sea as well as quaint village communities.

What to Do in Krabi
If you want to have a relaxed holiday surrounded by unforgettable tropical scenery Krabi is ideal and if you seek adventure this is also the perfect place to be. Diving and snorkelling is outstanding, Railay Beach is a popular destinations for rock climbers from around the globe as the area has over 700 routes to choose from.

Dining and Restaurants in Krabi
While Krabi Town is the place for down-home Thai food at reasonable cost, Ao Nang features more international fare from hamburgers to pizza to Indian food. 'Talad sots' – fresh markets, are also good places for delicious deep-fried chicken and snacks and street stands also offer delicious noodle and rice dishes.
The many hotels in and around Ao Nang have western dining while Krabi's five-star resorts offer excellent fare, albeit at cost. For atmospheric surroundings while you dine, try the Chao Fa pier night market in Krabi Town or the restaurants along either east or west Railay Beach. (Read more...)
Krabi Nightlife
In terms of party factor, Ao Nang is pretty much way ahead of Krabi Town, Koh Lanta and Railay but Ao Nang is certainly not as wild as Patong in Phuket.
Center Point in Ao Nang is a labyrinth of bars and live music and 'The Soi', on the road leading out of Ao Nang to Krabi Town, opposite Krabi Seaview Resort, a place for single and lonely males. Railay has good beach nightlife, as does Koh Lanta, all down its west coast, and Krabi Town is more a place to sip on a quiet beer than to party. (Read more...)
