Hua Hin Beaches

Situated on the western front of the Gulf of Thailand, Hua Hin's beaches provide a relaxing alternative to the garish extremes of Pattaya. Shallow depths and mild currents make the beaches family-friendly, although jelly fish can be problematic certain times of the year.

The stretch of beach enjoys a bevy of restaurants, shops and cafés beyond its shores. From here the tranquil waters can be admired from afar while sipping on a zesty cocktail or tucking into some fresh fruits. The assortment of beaches range from developed stretches to deserted charmers and, whatever your preference, one of the flowing should suit.

Hua Hin Beach

Hua Hin meaning 'Stone Head' derived its name from the formations of rock that lie at the end of the beach. Primarily considered as the 'Royal Beach', the five-mile stretch does radiate a certain regal charm with its bordering line of restaurants and five-star resorts.

The beach is as popular with expat vacationers looking for a weekend out of the city, as it is with locals and visiting Thai families and couples. An abundance of beach apparel, fresh fruit and all kinds of shops and eateries can be found along and just beyond this stretch of beach. (Read more...)

Cha-Am Beach

This beach is Thailand's second longest, pretty much running the stretch of the town. Situated just 20 minutes from Hua Hin, Cha-Am Beach runs along the coastline of the Gulf of Thailand, bordering dense jungle and a mountainous interior.

The white sandy beach and clear blue waters play host to various water sports and other activities. The occasional beach vendor can be found working the shores, selling everything from fruit to beach accessories. This once remote fishing village has retained its mellow, laidback pace of life, shining through none-better than in the town's tranquil beach atmosphere, generally clutter-free and with plenty of space to feel secluded from other sun worshippers. (Read more...)

Pranburi Beach

This peaceful coastal area is situated some 30km from Hua Hin, a small journey to take once reaping the benefits of the awaiting, unspoiled and secluded stretch of beach. The less developed Panburi has in recent years come into it’s own as a holiday destination for those seeking absolute relaxation, enjoying nothing more than unwinding on a beach for  some well deserved ‘alone time’. Fringed by a small road that continues south from the Pranburi river to the first coastal National Park in Thailand, Khao Sam RoiYot, here is a great opportunity to add some ecological flavor to what could have just been a lazy day at the beach. Khao Takiab Beach

Popular with local residents, the beach sits just outside Hua Hin town in a pretty bay where several eateries and shops add to its appeal. Khao Takiab is the destination of choice for the more adventurous travellers, offering an array of back-to-nature activities and fun.

The available elephant treks and horse rides on the beach make for some great activity in between sun bathing sessions. Nicknamed Chopstick Hill, popular attractions include feeding monkeys and renting bikes to ride along the coast of this idyllic beach retreat.

Khao Tao Beach

This secluded bay is situated 20 km south of Hua Hin, lined with many quaint restaurants. The remote village features an unspoiled beach, perfect to venture out to for a day trip or few hours of sun worshipping.

The beach is notably quieter on weekdays when locals are working. Weekends, however, can become more crowded as the rush for relaxation picks up. Deck chairs and loungers can become scarce, so keep it in mind to take your own lounging material or get there early.

Suan Soh Beach

Fringed by pine trees, the beach takes its name from the surrounding plantation. Particularly picturesque in parts, the more secluded of Hua Hin's beaches resides approximately 15 km southwards of the town centre. Due to the fact that it does not lie directly in front of a developed area the beach is more favored by locals.

This might be appealing to those of you who are looking for a unique Thailand beach experience. Don't expect to see the al fresco masseuse and various vendors you may find on the livelier Khao Takiab Beach.
