Hotel De Moc, formerly known as The Thai Hotel, is an inexpensive family-run hotel with a friendly atmosphere. We are located right in the heart the oldest section of Bangkok on Rattanakosin Island, not far from some of the key historical sites such as the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keow. In 1782, King Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty made the decision to move the Thai capital from Thonburi on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River to Bangkok, on the eastern bank, and the hotel lies very close to the area that still serves as the Kingdoms administrative and cultural centre.

About Old City
Bangkok Thailand's thriving and lively capital city is one of the best reasons for visiting. The new underground rail system and Skytrain now link most of the main tourist and business areas, allowing easy access to virtually anywhere in the city. The old city area (Rattanakosin) and the riverside are becoming popular areas near Bangkok's temples but if you're a shopaholic, head for Sukhumvit, Ploenchit and Rachaprasong.
